About HEARO

HEARO is an online service for kids who are deaf or hard of hearing to help them thrive through every stage of life.

The Challenge

Like every innovation, HEARO came out of a gap in the market. The Deaf Society identified that there was a lot of information out there to help parents of kids with hearing loss. However, it wasn’t empowering, impartial or tailored enough to help them make informed decisions throughout their child’s evolving communication needs.

Armed with research to back their story, The Deaf Society approached the Markd team to help turn their findings into a brand opportunity.

What we did

We analysed the research study, which informed a PX™ – The Purpose Experience – workshop to come up with all the elements that would make the support service and platform come to life. We were excited to see a parent be part of the co-creation, which brought real-life experience into the workshop.

The Result

Placing the child at the heart of the service unlocked the entire brand opportunity. That’s because the needs of kids evolve through three key lifestages:

  • Newborn & Preschool
  • Primary School
  • High School & Beyond

A newborn who has just been diagnosed with hearing loss has very different needs to a teenager about to make career decisions on their future. Being life-stage driven presented a powerful way to segment the information, services, and support to help parents navigate their child’s development and communication journey.

When we got to purpose, HEARO was born. It became clear that we were all there to empower every child with hearing loss to be the hero of their own story.

Wrapping Up

PX™ is an outcomes-based tool that can quickly help any brand – new or existing – personal or company – find purpose to make its mark on the world. We would never have got to HEARO without it. And now HEARO IS HERE.

The great news is that you too can supercharge your personal or company brand with more purpose. Reach out and we’ll share with you how.
